The Monark Exercise AB 828E Ergomedic Testing Bike is the world's most widely used bike for fitness tests, one of several Monark units we at Stationary Bicycle list. The Monark 828E is ideal for basic sub-maximal and max VO2 testing. Monark bikes are well known for their outstanding quality, durability, high level of performance, and accuracy in testing, with features designed to meet the rigorous demands of commercial gyms, rehabilitation centers, and active aging facilities. More importantly for users, the bike comes with aerobic test software for executing and analyzing aerobic tests, along with an adjustable brake system in which the brake force (resistance) can be set or read in kiloponds (KP) or Newtons (N), with a workload range of 0 to 7 KP. The actual brake power is displayed in watts on the electronic meter, as are pedal revolutions per minute (RPM), heart rate, time in minutes and seconds, speed, distance, and calories burned.
The Monark pendulum balance ergometer is the world’s most used test cycle for fitness testing at work. Electronic meter that shows (RPM), heart rate in beats per minute, cycling-time in minutes and seconds, intended cycling speed, plus distance covered. In addition braking power can be set, giving a reading of calorie consumption (CAL) and power in watts (WATT). The pendulum balance is easy to calibrate. Braking of the wheel takes place mechanically via a belt that runs round the rim of the wheel. The two ends of the belt are attached to a revolving drum to which a pendulum is fixed. This arrangement works as a pendulum balance which measures the difference in pulling power on the two ends of the belt. The Monark Ergomedic 828E is a Swedish made pendulum ergometer that excels at basic work output testing. The 828E uses a large, well-balanced 48 lb. flywheel and an easy-to-calibrate pendulum scale. It also come with an adjustable handlebar, adjustable height seat, and an electronic heart rate display with chestbelt and software. |

Now this bike is not for the normal Joe. It is a scientific machine. Wanting to reach the broadest spectrum of users, we at Stationary Bicycle decided to include this specialty excerise bike. Designed specifically to perform anaerobic tests such as the Wingate--which measures short-term strength, power, and endurance in athletes--the Monark 894E peak bike is ideal for sports medicine clinics, universities, professional sports teams, testing facilities, and a host of other fitness-oriented businesses. Among the details measured by the bike are revolutions per minute, heart rate, time, speed (in km or miles), distance, calories burned, and cycle power. And test times can vary widely--from five seconds to 99 minutes with one-second intervals--giving you plenty of options when setting up your anaerobic test. The 894E is equipped with a Windows-based software system that's easy to use, with crisp presentation graphics and step-by-step instructions to walk you through the test procedures. Even better, the software lets you store the results of every test, making it a breeze to compare individual and group test scores and print the results. The 894E also offers a patented, self-regulated "weight basket" braking system that doesn't need calibration. As long as the basket is in the air and the weights are correct, then the brake force will also be correct. Trainers then set the workload by adding weights to the weight basket, with 1 kg, 0.5 kg, and 0.1 kg options and a workload range from 1 kg to 12 kg. During a test, the trainer generally suspends the weight basket in the upper position, where it offers zero resistance, then releases it through a button in the handlebars to begin the test. It has a maximun weight capacity of 275 pounds.

It always amazes us at Stationary Bicycle what gets the reviews on exercise equipment. This little hummer pulled in the reviews! Nearly 150 when others wouldn't even get 25. And pulling off a 4 star rating (out of 5) tells a lot!. What is it that makes this machine a favorite? It's not just the low price. It is compact and lightweight, so it fits easily under a desk or in a closet. An electronic fitness monitor tracks number of strides per minute, total number of strides, workout time and calories burned to keep you motivated and moving toward your fitness goals. There's even a scan function that lets you monitor all your stats. Here's what one customer says about the Stamina 55 InMotion E1000 Elliptical Trainer: "I had mixed feelings about purchasing this because of its size and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get a good cardio on it. Boy was I wrong. When I workout on this my heart rate ranges from 145-160 which is exactly where I want it to be. It's very sturdy but does take a little getting used to as far as balancing on it but you can get a great workout from it. The strides are much smaller than what you find in a gym but that's expected. I think it's a very effective piece of equipment for the price." She gave it 5 stars.

A battery-operated monitor displays speed, distance, time, calories burned, and pulse, which is measured by sensors in handrails beside the seat. The seat and seatback are molded and padded for comfort and adjustable. Oversized foot pedals and adjustable foot straps hold feet securely to improve pulling motion while pedaling. The bike also has a water-bottle holder. Assembled (instructions included), the steel-frame bike measures 49-5/8 inches long x 23-5/8 inches wide x 48-5/8 inches high and weighs 117 pounds.

We at Stationary Bicycle often look for how many customer reviews a product gets, and how high they score. Manufacturers might say whatever they want about how great their product is, but what the customers say is what really counts. We almost overlooked this little exercise "bike" from Stamina. When other exercise machines may have 2 or 8 or even 13 reviews this little machine had 144! And a very high rating at that (4.0 out of 5). Why? Probably because of the high quality, effectiveness, and low cost. Here's what the Stamina InStride Cycle XL is all about: Unlike most exercise bikes, the InStride XL cycle doesn't come with a seat. Instead, you sit in a standard dining room chair or lie on the floor, then insert your feet into the sturdy rubber straps. Once you're in, you can pedal in forward or reverse motion, with an adjustable tension knob that lets you vary your intensity. As an alternative, you can even rest the InStride XL on a table and pedal with your hands to experience a full-range upper body workout. An electronic monitor times your workout.
